To: Multiple recipients of list HUM-MOLGEN <HUM-MOLGEN@NIC.SURFNET.NL> Subject: Human subjects From: Hans Goerl <GENETHICS@delphi.com> Date: Fri, 23 Jun 1995 00:02:34 -0400 From: Kris Hawley <khawley@MORGAN.UCS.MUN.CA> I would like an opportunity to respond to the comments raised by Leslie Biesecker concerning my posting about Familial Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I understand your concerns and agree with the importance of the point you raised, however in this situation, the purpose of my posting was to try to find if anyone out there is doing any current research into FIPF, or has any patients with the disorder. Participation in this research, is of course voluntary. This summer research I am doing has been approved by the Human Investigations Committee, and I am working under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth Ives (Genetics/pediatrics) . In no way is this research going to have any finiancial benefits, and my enquiry about DNA samples was just in the hope of speeding the research. Also, I stated that this was for research, it is not part of a service for screening. Kris Hawley
