HUM-MOLGEN BIOTECHNOLOGY/MOLECULAR BIOLOGY TOPICS

This message contains three requests:

(1) Dynabeads for ss PCR
(2) Neurofibrosarcoma, p53 and Ras
(3) Biotechnology in Asia

(1) Dynabeads for ss PCR

I have been using Dynabeads (paramagnetic beads coated w/ streptavidin)
to isolate ss PCR product and then sequence manualy. We just got an
automated sequencer (ABI 373a) and I am having problems getting the same
PCR products to sequence on the ABI. I am using the Sequenase dye
terminator and Taq cycle dye terminator kits. Has anyone tried these with
dynabeads? The ABI techs were not much help.... I would appreciate any
replies. Thanks.

(2) Neurofibrosarcoma, p53 and Ras

I seem to be in the wrong group here. I was recently informed that my P53
and ras genes were not mutated so I would not benefit from a clinical trial I
was enrolled in at the U of TX The purpose of the trial wasto produce a
vaccine for me to correct the mutation. I have a neurofibrosarcoma on the
left V-3 cranial nerve which my Kaiser doctors say is inoperable. I would
like to know of any clinical trials, or a method of researching trials or
other methods that would offer hope for me. I would appreciate any
suggestions on how to proceed. I have already contacted cancer-net and their
information was too general. George Myles PS I would like to know why the
genes are called P53 and ras.

(3) Biotechnology in Asia

Dear netters:

I am working on a project on the biotechnology development in Asian
countries for the Center for Technology Assessment in Baden
W rttemberg in Germany. I need urgently updated information about
the policy, infrastructure and public perception of biotech
development in Asia. I would deeply appreciate if you can provide
me contacts, information on relevant literature and your own
opinion.
