A postdoctoral fellowship is available to work on the “Functional impact of human genome inversions in health and disease (Ref: HEALTH03)”, funded through the European P-SPHERE project under the COFUND Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions of the Horizon 2020 programme. This study is the continuation of the ERC Starting Grant INVFEST and aims to genotype most human inversions in a large number of individuals well characterized at the phenotypic and disease level, and to determine their effect by combining methods of different disciplines. The successful candidate will form part of an interdisciplinary and dynamic research team located at the Institut de Biotecnologia i de Biomedicina (IBB) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The IBB is a multidisciplinary research institute located at the UAB, which has been selected Campus of International Excellence in Biomedicine. It is located in Bellaterra, a small residential town just 30 min away from the Barcelona center. Candidate requirements: We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals with more than 2 years of research experience after the PhD in areas related to genetics, genomics and molecular biology (and who have not resided in Spain for more than 12 months in the last 3 years). Previous research experience in high-throughput genomic techniques, functional genomics and gene expression analysis will be highly valued. Candidates should also have an excellent publication track record and be able to work well in a team environment. Conditions: 3-year work contract with a highly-competitive salary (36,100 € per year), a 3,000 € single relocation payment, and additional research and mobility support provided by the hosting group.
