Postdoctoral Fellow in Stem Cell Biology and Human Genetics
  March 28, 2015

Texas Biomedical Research Institute

The laboratory of Dr. Michael Olivier, Ph.D., in the Department of Genetics at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio, TX, is recruiting a postdoctoral scientist with expertise and training in stem cell biology.  The postdoctoral scientist will establish and coordinate projects related to generating and propagating induced pluripotent stem cells, genetic engineering of stem cells using CRISPR/Cas9 approaches, and differentiate normal and engineered samples into a wide range of differentiated cell types, from hepatocytes to neuronal cell lineages for a variety of projects in the Department of Genetics.  The scientist will, generate new iPSC lines from patient and non-human primate samples using microsomal vector systems.

Qualified candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in biology, genetics, cell biology, or a related field.  Prior experience in growing, maintaining and differentiating human induced pluripotent stem cells and embryonic stem cells, immunohistochemistry, basic molecular biology and genetics skills are required.  Additional experience in DNA sequencing, CRISPR technology, and/or stem cell differentiation into neuronal and/or hepatocyte cells would be highly advantageous.

Interested candidates should apply online for position 15-016 at http://www.txbiomed.org/about/employment, or send the application material directly to Dr. M. Olivier (molivier@txbiomed.org).
