Description:

Labtech International Limited was founded in January 1993 to serve life scientists in the UK.  It was clear at that time that many international companies were producing innovative, high quality products, but a high level of applications support, technical support and service support needed to be available locally in order to justify customers’ commitment to buying them.  The combination of innovative, high quality products with a high level of applications, technical and service support has proved very popular and Labtech has grown steadily, year by year.  Today, most of Labtech’s technical applications team have post doctoral research experience and are very well supported by an extensive office based infrastructure.

In 2004 Labtech France was formed from the acquisition of a small distribution company.  Since 2004 Labtech France has developed using the same principles as Labtech International, e.g. most of the technical application team have Ph.D.s  and focus on applications.  Additionally, Labtech France shares “back office” and admin functions.  This has enabled Labtech to operate more efficiently than it did as a single country distributor.

An additional element of Labtech’s business has been its start up, incubation, merger and acquisition activity.  Labtech has “incubated” a number of start ups and acquisitions within its infrastructure and a number of these incubated companies have subsequently been sold.

In 2007, Labtech was identified by the South East  England Development Agency as one of the pioneer companies to participate in the UK Government’s High Growth Scheme.  Today, Labtech continues to grow and to fill its commitment to serving life scientists in the UK and France.  Additionally, where Labtech has forged particularly strong relationships with manufacturers, Labtech has now agreed to put the “Labtech” badge onto selected products which will be offered to customers around the world, together with added value provided by Labtech.
