Soy protein prevents skin tumors from developing in mice

UC Berkeley researchers have found that mice with the soy protein lunasin applied to their skin had significantly lower rates of cancer than mice without the lunasin treatment. Both groups of mice were exposed to chemical carcinogens, but the lunasin-treated mice had a 70 percent lower incidence of tumors than the control group. The researchers say lunasin may have potential as a topical chemopreventive agent.
