Although everyone knows, what life is - or it at least believes - so far there is no exact definition. The molecular biologist and former Science editor-in-chief Daniel E. Koshland now attempts to identify 7 fundamental principles of life (PICERAS): P(rogram), I(mprovisation), C(ompartmentalization), E(nergy), R(egeneration), A(daptability), S(eclusion).
