  March 28, 2022

xtalks.com, webinar
Tuesday, April 05, 2022 | 2pm EDT

Who Should Attend?

All professionals focused on molecular epidemiology, SARS-CoV-2 research and detection, including:

  • Laboratory directors
  • Microbiologists
  • Scientists
  • Epidemiologists
  • Bioinformaticians
  • Public health officials

What You Will Learn

Join this webinar to learn:

  • Why next generation sequencing (NGS) is a powerful tool to detect and differentiate COVID-19 outbreaks
  • How NGS can solve the shortage of test supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • How NGS can be used for COVID-19 diagnosis, monitoring new variants and molecular epidemiology

Baha Abdalhamid, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine

The focus of Dr. Abdalhamid’s research is the antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in Gram-negative bacteria. He has conducted investigations to characterize molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance especially in Gram-negative bacteria. With the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, his research studies are also focusing on finding new effective diagnostics methods to conserve testing reagents and expanding SARS-CoV-2 testing such as group testing for pooled specimens in addition to characterization of SARS-CoV-2 genotypes. He did a micromaster program at University of Maryland Global Campus to solidify his background in bioinformatics.
