Today, a multiregional clinical trial (MRCT) in East Asia including Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan is considered as one of the promising strategic options in new drug development. System, environment and consciousness of people involved in new drug development in East Asia have made defi nite progress since the 1st DIA Asian New Drug Development Conference. However, there remain areas where these countries cannot harmonize easily on the basis of differences in regulations and medical practices. This 6th Annual Conference will provide an opportunity to identify difficulties in activating MRCT in East Asia and share information on solving these diffi culties and concerns.
