All healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of pain. Physicians: primary care, neurologists, oncologists, orthopedists, hospitalists and osteopaths; Physician Assistants; Nurse Practitioners; Pharmacists. New topics include pharmacotherapy, rare pain disorders, pain management in special populations (addiction, geriatrics, pediatrics, cancer and palliative care), preparation for JCAHO site inspections, differentiating common pain disorders, selecting best treatment options, optimizing use of adjuvant therapies and integrating complementary interventions. Program indended to teach healthcare practitioners across a range of disciplines best practices in pain management and how to transfer this knowledge to clinical peers and patients. This is especially useful for hospitals with, or seeking, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) certification, which requires pain management resources in place.
