This course gives you a basic orientation to this exciting field, both in fundamental concepts and in applications. It begins with a review of basic fluorescence principles, fluorescence labelling, and instrumentation. Continuing with a discussion of the special issues that arise for fluorometric screening in microplates, it concludes with a survey of established and recently developed applications of florescence technology to drug discovery. This course is being taught by John. C. Owicki, Ph.D., an independent consultant with extensive experience in the applications of fluorescence to drug discovery.
