Proteomes: Structure, Changes, Interactions and Function | ||||||||||||||||
September 23, 2001 | ||||||||||||||||
Iowa State University and Plant Science Institute Symposium, Iowa State University, Ames, IA June 20-23 2002 Tentative Programe With availability of genome sequences for many bacteria and model eukaryotes, genomics is shifting its focus to genome function. Proteomics, analysis of the protein complement of the genome, is essential for understanding genome function. Proteomics includes high throughput analysis of protein structures, abundance, interactions and function. Many proteomics techniques can now be applied to plants because of the recent sequencing of Arabidopsis genome and continuous increase in the sequence information for other plants. This symposium will bring together the proteomics researchers at the forefront of technology and the plant researchers that are applying or plan to apply proteomics techniques in plant biology. Given below is the list of topics on which lectures and discussions would be held. From Sequence to Consequence Computational Proteomics Genome-wide prediction of protein interactions Prediction of Protein Structure and Function on a Genomic Scale THEMATICS: Predicting Protein Function from Structure High throughput functional classification of proteins Expressed proteomes- subcellular localization and changes Mitochondrial proteome Chloroplast proteome Proteomics in Plant Science: Subcellular Fractionations and Developmental Studies Response of corn to low temperature Membrane Proteins Identification of thylakoid membrane proteins by on line mass spectrometry Emerging Frontiers |
