Designated for 18 hours in Category 1 of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the AMA. Approved for credit by the AAFP. ABOUT THE COURSE The field of infectious disease is in constant flux. While some diseases are close to eradication, new disease entities suddenly appear and others reemerge owing to changing public health circumstances or the development of drug resistance. It is difficult for even the most conscientious practitioner to be well versed in the literature, interact with colleagues in teaching and learning settings, and fulfill daily professional obligations. The continuous advances in diagnostic techniques and therapeutic alternatives make it crucial for the practicing physician to be current on such information to provide the patient with optimal care. This course is designed to provide an update in important areas, utilizing a faculty of nationally recognized experts who can communicate practical advice to clinicians. Special case history sessions will afford attendees the opportunity to learn from practical application of theories and therapeutic techniques, as well as a chance to interface with faculty and peers. OBJECTIVES The clinical physician will be provided with a comprehensive update of practical and clinically relevant information, with a special focus on new therapeutic alternatives.
