Technologies that have been developed and applied in the pharmaceutical segment, combinatorial chemistry, structure-based design, and high- throughput screening are now also being applied to the field of catalysis. These approaches, as well as the use of selective enzymatic reactions, have the potential to dramatically affect the synthesis of pharmaceutical small molecules, fine chemicals, and even polymers. This program examines key developments in the design, creation, and evaluation of new catalysts for these applications. Successful strategies, as well as some of the difficulties to be faced, including optimization, will be covered. |
