CHI's 4th Annual GENE QUANTIFICATION | ||||
Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI)
, San Diego, CA February 7-8, 2000 |
||||
The demand for quantitation of the number of copies of a given gene is becoming more critical that merely establishing the presence of a specific gene sequence. Although viral load determination is important in quantification, its accuracy and utility in different applications still needs to be addressed. Advances in quantification technologies and techniques, ranging from PCR, spliced vs. unspliced viral message and integrated vs. unintegrated HIV DNA to strategies for improving throughput (either front- or back-end), are among the many technical developments that will be covered. Another major development involves the simultaneous quantification of many genes, as required for gene expression profiling. Advances in the leading technologies and approaches for sequencing, sampling, chips and microarrays will be covered, but more importantly, examples of their applications will be discussed. |
