Who Should Attend?
The course is designed for individuals active in the field of pharmacology, dermatology, skin care, marketing and formulation of topical products.

Course Description
The environment is polluted by toxic chemicals, particles and electro-magnetic waves. It is often said that these forms of pollution damage the skin and accelerate the process of skin aging. This 90-minute, accredited online training course will present and discuss the published results of these findings and will evaluate the extent of skin aging damage which can occur. Other possible effects of pollution on the skin will also be discussed.

Invited Speakers:
   Paolo Giacomoni, Ph.D., Consultant to the Skin Care Industry

Dr. Paolo Giacomoni is an independent consultant to the Skin Care industry. He is a quality-focused leader with extensive experience in product research and development for cosmetic product providers. In recent years, he served as Chief Scientific Officer of Elan Rose International and as VP of Skin Care R&D with Herbalife, where he prepared new Skin Care lines. Previously, Dr. Giacomoni was with Estée Lauder as their Executive Director of Research. During that time he was in charge of research and communications for Clinique. He contributed to preparing new products and communicated with beauty editors for the best-selling products of the brand. During his tenure at L’Oreal as Head of the Department of Biology and then as scientific attaché to the Director of Applied Research, he built a distinguished record of achievement through his work in research, testing and integrating new technologies as part of the product development processes of best selling products. In his academic years, he was Maître de Conférences at the University of Paris, France, and Visiting Professor at the University of Milano, Italy.

Dr. Giacomoni is fluent in French, Italian, German, Spanish and English. He is the author of 100+ publications and patents representing breakthrough industry concepts and is the editor of two monographs on the effects of solar radiation (“Sun Protection in Man”, 2001, and “Biophysical and Physiological Effects of Solar Radiation on Human Skin”, 2007) . He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from UNIVERSITÉ PARIS VI, Paris France; his Masters Degree, (Laurea) in Atomic Physics from UNIVERSITÁ DI MILANO, Milano, Italy and has had Post-Doctoral Training at Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum at Heidelberg-Germany, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison-WI and at the University of California, San Diego-CA.
