Course Description
Fragrance is a key component of most consumer products, and a basic knowledge of fragrance technology is important for marketers and formulators. They are complex mixtures of natural oils and synthetic chemicals. Fragrance interacts in complex ways with emulsion and surfactant systems. An understanding of molecular polarity helps to explain many observations of fragrance effects. Fragrances are also used to control malodor. Safety is critical, and fragrance ingredients are tested by RIFM and restrictions determined by IFRA. Various government agencies also impose rules. Fragrance can be made green and sustainable.
