Course Description

Would you like to better understand the statistical buzz words in the medical research field? Become biostatistically savvy by taking this course! We understand that you do not necessarily want to be able to do all the statistical calculations but that you want to be able to talk intelligently about what statistics are appropriate for your research.

After taking this 90-minute accredited training course you will be able to identify the appropriate study designs for your objectives, the appropriate statistical methodds to analyze your data, and the sample size requirements for your research.

Invited Speakers:
Ms. Michelle Secic, M.S., President, Secic Statistical Consulting, Inc.

Ms. Michelle Secic has over 20 years of biostatistical experience. She has worked as a biostatistician at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF) for 11 years and was Manager of the Research Section of the Transplant Center at CCF. More recently, she has become President of Secic Statistical Consulting, Inc. where she collaborates with researchers from hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies and CROs around the world on the statistical aspects of their research. Ms. Secic currently writes statistical analysis plans, analyzes data, and writes statistical reports. In addition to her consulting work, she serves on Data Safety and Monitoring Boards (DSMBs).

Ms. Secic has coauthored the book, How to Report Statistics in Medicine: Annotated Guidelines for Authors, Editors and Reviewers which was published by The American College of Physicians (1st edition 1997, translation to Chinese 2002, 2nd edition 2006, translation into Japanese 2010, translation into Russian 2013). This book is referenced by the FDA in their guidance for industry document, “Statistical Guidance on Reporting Results from Studies Evaluating Diagnostic Tests”.

Ms. Secic received her Master of Science in Applied Statistics and her undergraduate degrees from Bowling Green State Univeristy.
