  January 07, 2015

CfPA-The Center for Professional Advancement, New Brunswick, NJ
June 15-16, 2015

Who Should Attend
This intensive course is designed for professionals working with personal care and cosmetic products, detergents, H&II, and industrial products involving surfactants.

It is targeted, but not limited, to professionals in the field of:
  • R&D and Synthesis
  • Product Development, Application and Formulation
  • Technical Service
  • Processing

Description
This 2-day course is designed to provide a comprehensive review of the science, technology, product application and environmental impact of the most widely used surfactants in the personal care, cosmetic and detergent industries. Day 1 focuses on the physical chemistry, structures and properties of the surfactants, including synthesis, manufacturing, and specifications. The controversial issue of 1,4 Dioxane is discussed in detail. The current ‘sulfate-free” wave is addressed in terms of technical reality vs. marketing claims.

Day 2 applies the learning of day 1 into the applications area, covering the physical chemistry characteristics, properties, development and performance attributes of a large number of cosmetic products divided in several performance categories, from the basic cleansers to the most sophisticated hair/ skin repairing products. The detergent industry (household and laundry), and selected industrial applications are also covered. Day 2 ends with a compact but broad review of the environmental impact of these materials, with emphasis on biodegradation.
