This course reviews the basics of Project Management as it applies to Engineering Projects.
Description: The concept of the "triple constraint" as it pertains to scope management, cost management, and time management is reviewed. Risk management techniques are also presented. The ideas will be illustrated using real-life examples of pitfalls and best-practices from engineering projects with which the instructor has been involved.
Objective: Having a technical background is a strong asset for a Project Manager on an Engineering project. However, Project Management skills are different than Engineering skills. Engineers often find themselves thrust into a project leadership position without the necessary project management skills to succeed. Engineers may be looking to understand the basics of Project Management in order to pursue new career growth opportunities. The objective of this course is to introduce the basics of project management as it pertains specifically to Engineering projects.
