This 90-minute accredited course offers broad based training that is designed to give the student a background in how to make decisions in plastics uses and selection. It answers the question as to what plastics can be used in a given application and how to perform a cost-benefit calculation on potential candidates. It will benefit professionals in the pharmaceutical, medical device, food, cosmetic, industrial, consumer, automotive, electrical electronics and other key industries. Participants will be given the tools to see how design, production processes, formulation, and polymer profiles all interplay in the selection of a good candidate material. Employees from many different industries should benefit from exposure to this course.

Dr. Andrew Auerbach, Ph.D.
Andrew Auerbach has a career of over 35 years in the plastics and chemical industries and currently works for the Center for Engineered Polymeric Materials, sponsored by the Empire State (NYS) Development Corporation. He was previously a Development Associate for Celanese (formerly Hoechst Celanese) in the engineering plastics area. Dr. Auerbach previously worked for ITT as a group leader in the plastics/fibers area.
Dr. Auerbach has a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry, an MBA in marketing and is a registered patent agent in the US.
Dr. Arie Hochberg, Ph.D.
Arie Hochberg developed new grades of plastics for the automotive, electronic, medical and appliance industries. He specialized in flame retardancy, high impact, antistatic and other specialty technologies. He has worked for Celanese (formerly Hoechst Celanese) and LNP Engineering Plastic corporations.
Dr. Hochberg has a doctorate in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry from Columbia University.
