CfPA - The Center for Professional Advancement, 90 Minute Accredited Online Training
May 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. (ET)
Who Should Attend This online training is intended for professionals in the dry chemicals, cement, plastics, mining, food and pharmaceuticals industries and others where the handling of dry powder or granular material is required. Anyone who uses pneumatic conveying and/or designs pneumatic conveying systems will be able to use this training to design new systems, modifications and troubleshooting calculations.
It will be especially valuable to: • Staff engineers involved in pneumatic conveying projects • Industrial engineers required to evaluate cost-cutting • Purchasing engineers working with vendors Description Pneumatic conveying has been a rapidly expanding area of materials handling because of its cleanliness, flexibility, and the rapid payout possible as it replaces an older method. Little information on the subject is available to the staff engineer; little or no coverage is provided in undergraduate curricula.
This 90-minute accredited online training course will supply the theory behind this technology and will include discussions on proper calculating methods with a practical application, keys to designing both a dilute phase and a dense phase vacuum and pressure conveying system.
Review of Learning Objectives Module 1: Calculating Methods and Application • Methods of calculating pressure requirement • Phase diagram • Equations
Module 2: Methods of Designing a Dilute Phase System • Calculating a dilute phase pressure conveying system • Calculating a dilute phase vacuum conveying system
Module 3: Methods of Designing a Dense Phase System • Calculate a dense phase pressure tank conveying system • Calculate a dense phase vacuum conveying system

Paul E. Solt, Pneumatic Conveying Consultant
Paul E. Solt has been involved in pneumatic conveying since 1950, currently as a consultant with Pneumatic Conveying Consultants. He formerly was employed by Fuller Company where he held positions in the service, sales and research departments, and has had much experience in both installation and troubleshooting of conveying systems. Mr. Solt brings a unique balance of both practical and theoretical approaches to solving conveying problems. His experience includes all aspects of the conveying field, including design, components, and control logic.
Mr. Solt received his mechanical engineering degree from Lehigh University. He has been granted a number of patents on basic pneumatic conveying techniques, equipment and systems and has presented papers on pneumatic conveying around the world. He frequently presents inplant training seminars for engineers, process, and production and maintenance personnel.
Mr. Solt is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Powder and Bulk Engineering magazine and writes a column on design problems in pneumatic conveying systems. He is a member of the Teltech expert service staff. He has authored and presented numerous technical papers at the Powder and Bulk Solids Technical Program.
