Description
To formulate a successful sunscreen product for topical application requires a multidisciplinary approach. Factors that need to be taken into consideration include the current market trends & demands, regulatory framework and compliance requirements, scientific learning on skin structure and function, UV-interacting chemistry and science, and appropriate delivery systems for optimal effectiveness and safety.

This course will provide an overview of sunscreen regulations and technologies that enable the participants to design proper strategies for successful product development and marketing. In addition, small group discussion/workshops on real-life case studies will be conducted throughout the course to familiarize the participants with the complex regulatory framework and product labeling & advertising guidelines.

Invited Speakers: Wen Schroeder; President, SEKI Cosmeticals, LLC

Wen Schroeder, President of SEKI Cosmeticals, LLC., is a consultant in global regulatory affairs, chemical regulations & management, and cosmetic formulation & product development. She has over 20 years of personal care product development and pharmaceutical research experience with 30+ US patents and numerous foreign filings.

Ms. Schroeder has degrees in Pharmacy & Environmental Science specializing in Environmental Toxicology & Law. She is a RAC-certified Regulatory Affairs Professional experienced in the regulations of cosmetics, food, OTC drugs and chemical management. Ms. Schroeder served on the Personal Care Products Council's Air Quality Committee and is active in the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the Drug Information Network, and the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society. She is scientific advisor to Taiwan Government External Trade Development Council.

Ms. Schroeder is a published author and a frequent lecturer on cosmetic science/technology and global food, drug, cosmetic and chemical regulations. She is a course director for the Center for Professional Advancement on many public and online course topics including REACH, Chemical Control & Management, Cosmetic Regulations, Biocides, Plant Protectants, and Preservatives & Pesticides.
