Workshop on Surgical Techniques in the Laboratory Mouse

This four-day intensive hands-on workshop is for those wishing to obtain practical training in surgical techniques for the laboratory mouse.  A wide range of surgical procedures are taught including castration, vasectomy, nephrectomy, adrenalectomy, splenectomy, thymectomy, ovariectomy, ovarian transplantation as well as jugular vein and carotid artery catheterization.  In addition to surgical procedures, topics covered include aseptic surgical techniques, necropsy and injection techniques.  Participants should have some basic surgery knowledge and the ability to work under a dissecting microscope.
