Who Should Attend
The course should be of value to those working in microencapsulation, as well as to those in industry and research laboratories, who would profit from a thorough presentation and discussion of the many techniques and characteristics of the microcapsules formed from them. It should be of particular interest to personnel in the following industries:

This program will provide an up-to-date assessment of available encapsulation techniques. Each lecturer will present the basic chemical and physical principles of their processes, as well as a discussion of specific techniques and applications. The aim of the program is to provide an understanding of the unique advantages and difficulties of each major encapsulation technique. Emphasis will be placed on proven techniques, results and actual applications in various industries.
The instructors, all of whom are recognized experts in their areas, will present the latest available information regarding the processes in which they specialize. The lectures are structured to encourage open discussions between lecturers and participants.

Dr. James D. Oxley; Senior Research Scientist, Department of Microencapsulation and Nanomaterials, Southwest Research Institute
Dr. James D. Oxley is currently a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Microencapsulation and Nanomaterials at the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI®). SwRI is a recognized leader in the field of encapsulation with over 60 years of research and development experience ranging from proof-of-concept to production. Dr. Oxley directs staff engaging in contract research pertaining to encapsulation and controlled release. His responsibilities include delineating a research approach in encapsulation, process development, formulation development, analytical studies and the development of novel micro- and nanoencapsulation techniques. Dr. Oxley received a B.S. in Chemistry from Texas Christian University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has several publications in refereed journals and conference symposia and has given invited talks both domestically and internationally. Dr. Oxley is currently a member of the American Chemical Society, Controlled Release Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and International Microencapsulation Society.
