Description
This 90-minute accredited online training course will translate the Fundamental Properties of siloxane chemistry into personal care applications. Silicones have been around since the mid 1900's; primarily as Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone. Organo-siloxane chemistry and application has evolved over the past 60 years both in the US and globally to enhance the marriage of the functional characteristics of the siloxane backbone with the functionality of organics. This training focuses on the properties of siloxane chemistry and the resultant benefits in personal care formulations and consumer value.

Invited Speakers: Eric Abrutyn, retired Sr. Principal Scientist from Kao Brands and founder TPC2 Advisors Ltd., Inc., consultants to the personal care industry.

Eric Abrutyn is a graduate of New York University-New Paltz with a Masters in Chemistry and of C.W. Post College/Long Island University with a B.S. in Chemistry. Has over 35 years of experience in the cosmetic and toiletries industry. Mr. Abrutyn is an active member of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, on the Advisory Board of Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine, and is Chairman of the Personal Care Products Council (formerly CTFA) International Nomenclature Committee (INC).

Mr. Abrutyn has recently retired from Kao Brands Company as a Senior Principal Scientist. He has contributed broadly in the fields of hair care research, skin care product development & underarm product development. His other past experiences are with Dow Corning as a Senior Technical Service Scientist in the field of silicone chemistry and Wickhen Products as Director of R&D in the field of antiperspirants, esterification, spray drying, and free-radical polymerization. Mr. Abrutyn holds over 15 patents, is contributing editor to 4 books, author of many technical articles and numerous presentations in the field of antiperspirants, polymerization, controlled release and silicone applications.

Eric retired from Kao Brands and started a personal consulting business [TPC2 Advisors Ltd., Inc]. TPC2 Advisor’s mission is to provide the personal care industry with technical support in the understanding of the properties, performance and value of technology to improve the success of new product development and commercialization.
