Introduction to SNOMED CT® and Its Use in Structured Product Labeling

  September 28, 2006
Drug Information Association, Online
Oct 25 2006

In April 2006, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the selection of SNOMED CT as one of the terminologies of choice for the highlights section of the Structured Product Labeling (SPL). The choice of SNOMED CT was made to facilitate a one-to-one mapping between concepts and codes commonly used in electronic health records and the same concepts and codes used in the electronic prescribing information found in the SPL’s highlights section.

This webinar will answer the following questions about SNOMED CT:
•What is a Concept?
•What are Descriptions?
•What is a Hierarchy?
•What are the Relationships among SNOMED CT concepts and why are they useful?
