Frontiers in Gene Expression Analysis

  January 04, 2005

The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, Maine
October 24-28, 2005

The course itself will focus primarily on gene expression analysis in a variety of mouse models relevant to the study of heart, lung, blood and associated sleep disorders. Participants will be introduced to wet bench methods necessary for the preparation of expression chips including nucleic acid extraction, isolation and purification protocols, analytical approaches to chip reading and data analysis, software tools, and case-oriented application of microarray technology to heart, lung, blood and associated sleep disorders.

Topics include:

Image Processing and Data Analysis
Managing Microarry Data
RNA Preparation
Experimental Design for cDNA Microarrays
Gene Expression using MPSS
ANOVA for Microarray Data
GXD: Integrated access to mouse gene expression information
MGED: Establishing standards for representation and exchange of microarray expression data

Organized by: Gary Churchill, Ph.D. and John B. Macauley, Ph.D,. The Jackson Laboratory
Invited Speakers: In addition to the Organizers, teaching assistants are drawn from The Jackson Laboratory and The Institute for Genome Research.
