Subj: Banning of transgenic animals in Switzerland

Dear Sirs

As you may know the Swiss people will have to vote presumably next year on
the banning of all transgenic animals and also on laws making
some fundamental biological research more difficult.

Because this threatens the future of all biological research in Switzerland
a group of students at the Biozentrum of the University founded last year
an organisation called JuFoGen (Junges Forum Gen, Young Genetic Forum) to
inform the poublic on modern biology and to try to avoid the destruction of
their scientific future. One of the projects set up is a Webserver at
http://www.jufogen.ch .

We ask especialy the german speaking scientists on this list to spread the
URL of the site and to encourage the participation of students in our
actions. Zuerich and Bern have recently also founded their own JuFoGen. We
also ask everybody to send us a short text telling how the new laws would
influence their work.

Please help us to give the Swiss young scientists a chance to have a future
in science.

Thank you Carlos Ribeiro CoWebmaster of the WebSite

P.S.: Please send responses to jufogen@ubaclu.unibas.ch THANK YOU
