To: Multiple recipients of list HUM-MOLGEN <HUM-MOLGEN@NIC.SURFNET.NL> Subject: DIAG: 3 messages (Leigh dis/D3 recept.gene-schizophrenia/h-m mutant gens) From: Carlo Gambacorti <GAMBACORTI@icil64.cilea.it> Date: Wed, 6 Sep 1995 16:49:59 MET-DST ************************************************************** HUM-MOLGEN DIAGnostics/Clinical Research ************************************************************** This DIAG message contains 3 submessage(s): 1) Prenatal Dx of Leigh Disease, availability of tests 2) Mouse mutants & human genes 3) dopamine D3 receptor gene (DRD3)/schizophrenia Carlo Gambacorti MD, Editor, Human Molecular Genetics network Diagnostics/Clinical Research Section ************************************************************** ************************************************************** Is anyone aware of a laboratory (preferably in the US) which will do prenatal testing for Leigh disease? Patient is currently 6 weeks pregnant and has an affected child. Biochemical testing on the child is pending, so I don't yet which type of Leigh disease he has. Any help is greatly appreciated! Robert Resta Swedish Medical Center Seattle WA (206)386-2101 bc928@scn.org ************************************************************** From: Babij, Philip Date: Thu, Aug 31, 1995 4:17 PM Subject: Mouse mutants & human genes To: HUM-MOLGEN@NIC.SURFNET.NL Dear colleagues Does anyone keep or know of an up to date list of those human genes (disease related or not) which have been identified directly from a known mouse mutation? The ob gene would be a good example. Any other examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, BABIJP@prince.mm.wyeth.com ************************************************************** I am currently working on the human dopamine D3 receptor gene (DRD3). This gene is of interest to our group since there is an association between homozygote genotypes for a Bal I polymorphism in exon 1 and *schizophrenia*. We wish to isolate the 5' end of the gene, in order to determine the promotor region. Is there anyone who has access to HUMAN RNA, cDNA or cloned cDNA which contains DRD3? Has anyone done a Northern blot on the message? Is anyone else working on the promotor of this gene?
