Description:
Necton is devoted to the exploitation of natural resources through marine technologies. The main bussiness areas are traditional sea salt production and microalgae production. In both areas, the company is backed by a strong R&D effort, either internal or through a cooperation network with a wide range of partners. The current staff includes PostDocs and MSc's, and several visiting researchers also support the R&D activities.
Specialised since 1989 in the production and processing of compounds from microalgae, Necton was able to achieve a leading position in the sector of microalgae applications for aquaculture and cosmetics.
Necton produces Nannochloropsis sp., Phaeodactylum tricornutum, Porphyridium cruentum, Dunaliella salina, Tetraselmis sp.. Other microalgae can be produced upon demand.
