COMPANY PROFILE  

Mascia Brunelli S.p.A. and Biolife Italiana S.r.l. are two companies that belong to the same group and that have been operating in the in vitro diagnostic fields for microbiology, haematology, clinical chemistry, immunology, products for tissue culture and medical devices for many years. Both companies are located in Milan, Viale Monza 272, and occupy an area of approximately 3500 m2. Biolife Italiana S.r.l. has a well-established reputation in the manufacture of powdered and ready-to-use culture media for microbiology, of supplements and enrichments, and of kits and reagents for microbial identification. Biolife Italiana S.r.l. is also the authorised, exclusive Distributor of some foreign companies for in vitro diagnostic products for microbiology in Italy.   Mascia Brunelli S.p.A manufactures in vitro diagnostic products for immunohaematology and clinical chemistry and haemostatic devices for surgery (class 3 medical devices). In addition to being distributor of other types of medical devices, Mascia Brunelli S.p.A also distributes products for tissue culture, immunohaematology, and molecular biology and for analysis laboratories. Mascia Brunelli-Biolife set out to fully meet the needs of their customers in terms of pre- and after-sales product and support service performance, and to establish a process that continuously improves the products and services offered to the customers.

QUALITY ASSURANCE 

The manufacturing plant of Mascia Brunelli S.p.A and Biolife Italiana S.r.l is located in Milan in Viale Monza 272. The production area includes class 1000 sterile rooms with separate filtration systems for the production of medical devices and in vitro diagnostic devices. The production plants allow Mascia Brunelli S.p.A and Biolife Italiana S.r.l to manufacture the following under quality assurance conditions: Diagnostic products for microbiology: culture media, supplements, and kits for microbial identification. Immunodiagnostics and clinical chemistry: rapid tests based on immunochromatography, immunohaematology and immunochemistry kits. Surgery: haemostatic sponges.  

DESIGN 

Mascia Brunelli S.p.A and Biolife Italiana S.r.l have Laboratories fitted out with modern equipment, for Quality Control,  Research and Development,  with personnel who are university graduates and qualified technicians. Important results have been obtained in the field of design:   - Microbiology: results of Biolife’s research are the MUCAP Test for of immediate identification of Salmonella, the ALOA medium for immediate detection of Listeria monocytogenes, many chromogenic media for Salmonella (CSA), E. coli /Coliforms, Candida albicans, and a new ELISA kit for detecting the fecal antigen of H. pylori based on monoclonal antibody technology. Biolife was the first in Europe to introduce fluorogenic media with MUG. These IVD’s have profoundly modified the analytical approach in microbiology, and are today part of the routine of many laboratories the world over. - Immunodiagnostics, haematology: Mascia Brunelli’s research has produced reagents for platelet aggregation and adhesiveness and, more recently, a complete line of immunochromatographic tests for the rapid determination of analytes in biological samples (occult blood, group A Streptococcus, Bence Jones proteins, Kappa and Lamda proteins, and the H. pylori antigen).  

SALES ORGANISATION 

Both companies have a rational sales organisation that covers the entire national territory and that is diversified for the medical and laboratory sectors. They operate in the foreign market through distributors in many European, Middle Eastern, African and Far Eastern countries.
