Pharmacognetics and pharmacogenomics have introduced a dramatic and still ongoing revolution in the fight against cancer. Diatech Pharmacogenetics is the unique company in Italy focusing its research efforts on pharmagonenetics, the science that studies the genetic variation that effects response to drugs, as well as underpins understanding on what side effects are likely to occur (personalised medicine).

Diatech Pharmacogenetics supports its own research efforts developing, producing and commercializing pharmacogenetic tests implemented in the personalised and predictive medicine, with priority focused on the most invasive therapies: anti-cancer treatments. Pharmacogenetic kits developed by Diatech Pharmacogenetics target to personalize both standard chemotheraphy and radiotherapy and molecular targeted drugs, leading to higher efficacy and reduced side effects.

Diatech Pharmacogenetics srl was founded as Diatech srl in 1994 and became the operative R&D company into the MDx market on 2011.

During its history Diatech has always developed and produced molecular diagnostics tests, starting with standard PCR for detection, quantitation and genotyping of pathogens and for the analysis of mutations leading to genetic diseases or considered as factor risks.

Today Diatech Pharmacogenetics is able to provide its pharmacogenetics tests on different platforms: pyrosequencing, MassARRAY and Real Time PCR, supplying all reagents, instruments and materials necessary along the DNA-data workflow and supporting the oncologists in the selection of drugs like fluoropyrimidines, platinum derivatives, irinotecan, tamoxifen, anti-EGFR antibodies, tirosin-kinase inhibitors and several others.

Modern competition in a high technology market requires strict quality control of all commercial and scientific parameters. Diatech Pharmacogenetics has reached this goal by receiving the ISO 9001:2008 certification, the ISO 13485:2003 certification (LNE/G-MED, 0459). All Diatech Pharmacogenetics’ kits are certified under the IVD directive 98/79/EC and are therefore intended for diagnostic use.

26 employees work in the new 6000 m² facilities located in Jesi (AN); the majority of them have got a scientific degree and work in R&D, Production, Quality Control, Customer Service and Technical Assistance. Customers are at the heart of Diatech Pharmacogenetics’ business. The company have dedicated labs for demo and training and customers are continuously supported from pre- to post-sale with daily direct contact and wherever needed with personalized solutions.

Depending on products and area, direct salesmen, agents or sub-distributors work in a diffused sales and marketing organization.

In Italy pharmacogenetics means Diatech Pharmacogenetics: the company is in fact leader into the Italian PGx market covering the 80% of the CE-IVD market.
