Hi,

I am doing some research for my College Microbiology class. Can someone please explain a frameshift mutation to me?

I believe frameshift mutations occur when single or many nucleotide pairs are altered by deletions or insertions. Can the deletion or insertion be a single nucleotide like A or must it be paired like AA? Any examples would help. I hope this makes sense.

Could some also please explain a transpostion mutation to me?

Thanks in advance!!
