Both avidin and streptavidin show extraordinary strong affinity to biotin. The dissociation constant (Kd) of the non-covalent interaction between streptavidin and biotin is on the order of 10-15 M. The streptavidin-biotin complex is also highly stable over a wide range of temperatures and pH. As a result, the streptavidin-biotin interaction has been extensively used in molecular biology, immunology, and cellular assays.

AnaSpec has introduced its latest collection of streptavidins labeled with its patented HiLyte FluorTM and HiLytePlusTM dyes which promise brighter fluorescence and better photostability compared to FITC and Cyâ dyes. Streptavidins labeled with fluorescent dyes are widely used for immunofluorescent staining (Fig.1, 2), fluorescence activated cell sorting, in situ hybridization and other biological applications.

AnaSpec’s HiLyte FluorTM Labeled Streptavidin Sampler kits, available in 2 sizes, contain streptavidins labeled individually with HiLyte Fluor TM. Prepared at optimal fluorophore to streptavidin labeling ratio, these HiLyte Fluor™ streptavidin conjugates exhibit high fluorescence signal and uncompromised biotin binding capability. Every lot has been validated with immunofluorescence staining.
