STATE-OF-ART FACILITIES

At Genelex we have state-of-art technologies and experience--including bioinformatic, robotic, and high-throughput capabilities--needed to analyze genes, polymorphisms, and haplotypes. We treat our projects as collaborations in order to ensure that our work will best advance our clients' goals.

CUSTOMERS

Our customers include Universities, Biotechnololgy Companies, the Justice System and individual research scientists. Projects range from small pilot studies, to FDA clinical trials testing to full collaborations on RO1 or SBIR grant funded research. Call 1 800 523-6487 or email genomics@genelex today to discuss your project and to obtain a no-cost proposal.

PHARMACOGENETIC STUDY EXAMPLE

A recent study we completed with Stanford Research International on the pharmacogenetics of smoking cessation available at http://www.genelex.com/Genomicshtmls/Genotyping1.html illustrates some of our capabilities.

CHIMERISM TESTING

We have also recently completed the validation and integration with Hematologics, Inc. of high resolution flow cytometry and quantitative DNA analysis for lineage specific chimerism testing for tracking bone marrow engraftement. Please email Chimerism@genelex.com if you would like to be notified when the results of this study become available.

AVAILABLE SERVICES

SNP Discovery, Validation and High-Throughput Scoring
High throughput SNP genotyping has become the workhorse of genetic variation. Second generation TaqMan technology represented by the ABI 7900HT sequence detection system allows for the ultimate in flexibility, accuracy and cost-effectiveness. This proven technology and platform in the endpoint TaqMan mode can analyze more than 10,000 SNPs/hr.

DNA Fragment Analysis
STRPs (simple tandem repeat polymorphisms) have been the workhorse of human genetics for more than a decade. These polymorphisms, which underlie many neuro/psychiatric, neoplastic and other disorders are efficiently scored by gel-based fragment analysis using a variety of multiplexing techniques.

Haplotyping
There is a growing awareness that haplotypes, rather than individuals SNPs, have much greater statistical utility and functional relevance in genetic studies. Genelex is capable of sequencing from cloned long-template PCR products to establish haplotypic phase relationship between multiple SNPs.

Direct Sequencing
Gel-based sequencing remains the gold standard for polymorphism discovery. Do you have a "hot" target gene for which there are few reported SNPs? Genelex can resequence your target and discover those variants, evaluate possible population/ethnic stratification, or estimate allele frequencies. We can also assist in the collection of DNA samples or provide access to our in-house DNA panels.

Copy Number Analysis
Loss of heterozygosity or genomic amplification are frequently associated with carcinogenesis. Given the neoplastic tissue isolate, Genelex can conduct quantitative PCR to assess the degree of copy number change. This type of assay is also useful for FDA mandated product release testing.

DNA Isolation, Purification and Automated Sample Handling.
We have specialized techniques and equipment for isolating and purifying DNA from a variety of hard and soft tissues and body fluids including chemically treated archived specimens. The size of these projects range from individual casework to hundreds or thousands of tissue or blood samples. Our goal is to get them into 96 or 384 well plates as early as practicable in order to take full advantage of our robotic sample handling equipment.

FORENSIC-LEVEL DATA QUALITY, SAMPLE HANDLING AND DOCUMENTATION

Since 1987 Genelex has been providing meticulous and reliable service in forensic genetic analysis and individual identification. We bring to the field of genome analysis the same attention to detail and uncompromising standards.

ACCREDITATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Founded in 1987, Genelex Corporation is Washington State Medical Test Site No. MTS-3919 CLIA No. 50D0980559. accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors Laboratory Accreditation Board in forensic DNA testing since 1998, and the AABB Parentage Testing Committee in DNA parentage testing since 1992. Genelex complies with United States Food and Drug Administration regulations covering Good Laboratory (21 CFR 58) and Good Manufacturing (21 CFR 211) Practices and has contributed to the validation of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Standard Reference Materials.
