The Genetic Association Database has had a major increase in content
(>300%) and updates of search capability.

This database can be found here: http://geneticassociationdb.nih.gov

GAD is a publicly available NIH based database of published
gene based genetic association studies. It contains
records of over 5,000 human genetic association studies and is growing rapidly.

One of our roles is to archive and standardize gene nomenclature for
genetic association studies, thus allowing them to be compared and
linked to additional sources of information (PubMED, SNPdb, Pathways,etc.).
They then can be easily integrated into new sources of data.

Search upgrades include a gene based batch search function which allows
data integration with high-throughput data sources such as microarray
and proteomic data.

Additional connections to new sources of molecular information include linkouts to
the HAPMAP, the CDC, SNPPER, and the ASAP alternative splicing project.

We invite you to use this database and/or submit the results of your study.
We also hope that web based tools will link back to GAD and use the database as
a source of disease based genetic information.

We hope that the understanding of the complexity of common human
disease can be aided through this community wide effort.

Sincerely,

Kevin Becker
