In December 2007, a bipartisan group of legislators introduced a bill which would help to expedite the implementation of electronic prescribing in physician's offices throughout the United States. Using this electronic media, physicians would be able to transmit drug prescriptions directly to pharmacies, allowing for immediate feedback on safety issues through increased access to patient's prescription histories, such as adverse reactions with other medications, correct dosing or allergy concerns. It would also improve operational efficiencies by notifying physicians if a generic form of the prescribed drug is available, ultimately cutting costs to patients. With an increased focus on generic drugs and a new-found lack of access to physician prescribing data, what will e-prescribing mean to the pharmaceutical industry? This interactive webinar will address the opportunities and benefits behind eprescribing for pharmaceutical companies by addressing questions such as: - What are the policies and regulations behind e-Prescribing?
- What are the federal and state regulations on e-Prescribing and how can pharmaceutical companies be supportive?
- How will U.S. pharma deal with the opening of e- Prescribing to a broader international market?
- What are physician experiences using Electronic Medical Records and e-prescribing in their practices?
- What is the current status of using commercial eprescribing systems?
- Timeline for adoption- When will e-Prescribing come into general use in the healthcare industry?
- Future look- What effect will the Presidential elections have on e-Prescribing?
- Current cost of healthcare and future projections from the Congressional Budget Office
