Pharmaceutical Water System–Design and Operation

  November 03, 2008

The Center for Professional Advancement, 90 Minute Accredited Online Training
December 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (EST)

Who Should Attend
This course is intended for Engineers, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Facilities Managers, Utility Managers, Validation Professionals, Regulatory Affairs Professionals in the Biopharmaceutical Industry. Anyone responsible for designing, managing, sampling, operating, validating or regulatory affairs of compendial water systems will find this training valuable. Participants ranging from those with little to no experience with water systems, to those with several years of experience will benefit.

Description
Water is the single largest ingredient used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and permeates every aspect of biopharmaceutical manufacturing. The uses of water, and steam, derived from water, constitutes a major operational and quality issue in the industry on a world-wide basis. As such, water is governed by specific requirements for quality and use. This 90-minute accredited training will review typical designs for water systems, as well as their operation.

Module 1:
  • Basic Water System Design Strategies
  • Pretreatment, Post-treatment Issues
  • Treatment Options

Module 2:
  • Ion Exchange vs Membrane vs Distillation
  • Storage/Distribution of Water

Module 3:
  • Operational Choices
    – Hot/cold
    – Intermittent vs continuous sanitization, etc
  • Materials of Construction
