HITECH Changes to HIPAA – What Should You Be Doing Now?

  November 08, 2012

ComplianceOnline, Online Event
2012-12-14

Why Should You Attend:

Healthcare providers are confused and worried by the delay in guidance from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) about HITECH compliance. The effective date of the HITECH Act was February 17, 2010. Heavy monetary penalties mandated by HITECH are being levied and HITECH Compliance Audits are underway. However, HHS has issued only a Breach Notification Interim Final Rule, an Enforcement Interim Final Rule and proposed HITECH modifications to the Privacy, Security, and Enforcement Rules and a separate HITECH proposed modification regarding Accounting for Disclosures under the Privacy Rule.

This presentation will cover the HITECH interim rules, proposed rules and HHS Audit Protocols to provide guidance on what healthcare providers should be doing now to comply with HITECH and be prepared for future.

  • Breach Notification Interim Final Rule
  • Enforcement Interim Final Rule
