It is with great pleasure, on behalf of the Molecular Genetics Society of Australasia that we extend a warm invitation to our conference. This is 2 day comprehensive Conference, commencing on Sunday Evening the 1st of August and finishing at Tuesday 3rd August afternoon. The meeting will satellite the 8th Australasian Mutation Detection Meeting that will be held at the same venue from Tuesday 3rd August afternoon until Friday 6th August afternoon.
This meeting will take place at Cradle Mountain, Tasmania - in the hearland of Australia's wilderness. It will be held at the Cradle Mountain Chateau, which is situated just outside the Cradle Mountain National Park. We therefore encourage you to participate by registering and submitting your abstract for an oral or poster presentation, or simply join us to meet others within the clinical, molecular genetics and pathology community. So, come along and immerse yourself in, not only an educational meeting, but also a warm and friendly meeting. You can do all this while enjoying the fantastic surroundings and experiences Tasmania has to offer.
Abstracts
The Molecular Genetics Society of Australasia invites submissions of abstracts for the annual meeting. You are welcome to attend the meeting without submitting an abstract. Only those registering are able to submit abstracts.
A representative of each laboratory will have an audit of what they have done in 2008.
A number of labs are using new techniques to amplify larger repeats and identify methylation of the FMR1 gene.
Clinicians can present their findings. Don Bailey our invited speaker will present in this session.
This is designed as an interactive session. A preliminary document will be forwarded to all labs. Our invited speaker Rob Elles will likely discuss new sizing repeat standards available to UK/European labs.
At least two trails from Melbourne/Sydney are being considered. Also allows adding presentations for other mental retardation screening such as GOLD (Genetics of Learning Disabilities).
