Mitosis and Cancer Symposium

  October 17, 2008

Abcam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
26-27 February 2009

The deadly essence of cancer cells is their ability to divide unrestrictedly.  For long, anti-mitotic drugs have been used in cancer therapy yet surprisingly little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying their therapeutic effects.

This sympoisum aims to bring together experts of mitosis and translational cancer research, to work on understanding how mitotic targets could be optimally used in cancer therapy.

Organized by: Dr Rob Wolthuis (Netherlands Cancer Institute), Dr Stephen Taylor (University of Manchester) and Abcam
Invited Speakers:
  • Conly Rieder (Wadsworth Center, New York, US)
Live cell studies on the behavior and fate of normal human and cancer cells as they enter mitosis in the presence of spindle poisons
