Description
The cosmetic industry is going green. To place a personal care product successfully in today’s market requires more than superior formulation and attractive packaging; the current marketing language in vogue is “green”, including phrases such as natural, organic, botanical, etc. Factors for successful marketing should take into consideration the current market trends & demands, regulatory framework & compliance requirements, scientific learning on performance, efficacy and safety. This 90-minute accredited online course will provide a historical background and explain how it leads to today’s vibrant greening of this industry. Also discussed will be an analysis of the business outlook of the green cosmetic market, consumer behavior research and proactive business planning strategy.

Invited Speakers: Wen Schroeder, President of SEKI Cosmeticals, LLC.

Wen Schroeder is a consultant to the cosmetic, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Her company provides services in global regulatory affairs, chemical & product lifecycle management, skin care/treatment formulation & product development. Ms. Schroeder has served on the CTFA Air Quality Committee and is active in the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the Drug Information Network. She is the president of the Wisconsin Chapter of Formosan Association for Public Affairs and serves as an advisor to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. She has over 20 years of personal care product development and pharmaceutical research experience with 29+ US patents and numerous foreign filings. Ms. Schroeder has received many awards of excellence including the Distinguished Performance Award in 1992 and annual IDEA awards from Kimberly-Clark Corporation since 1995. She has degrees in Pharmacy and Environmental Science specializing in reproductive toxicology of PCBs and environmental law. Ms. Schroeder is a holder of the RAC certification from the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society with practical experience in the regulations of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices and chemical/formulation/product lifecycle management. Ms. Schroeder teaches SCC continuing education courses and has been invited to give technical presentations at numerous international conferences including the annual Cosmeceuticals Summit, Global Regulations for Cosmetics, the Color Cosmetics Summit and the HBA Global Expo. She is the Director at the Center for Professional Advancement for the courses “REACH (Registration, Evaluation & Authorization of Chemicals) – EU’s Harmonized Chemical Policy & Regulation”, “GHS – Globally Harmonized System for Chemical Classification & Labeling”, and “Sunscreen Technology & Product Development”.
