International Scientific Programme 2006 (ISP 2006)

Part I (August 27 - September 9, 2006) of the International Scientific Programme 2006 (ISP 2006) of the International Society for Molecular and Cell Biology Protocols and Researches, Inc. (ISMCBPR) duly sponsored by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars and the Department of State, Washington D.C. through the Philippine - American Educational Foundation or PAEF (Fulbright Commission in the Philippines), Executive Director: Dr. Esmeralda S. Cunanan; the Division of Biological Sciences, University of the Philippines in the Visayas, Iloilo, Philippines, Chairman: Prof. Ma. Severa Fe S. Katalbas and the International Society for Molecular and Cell Biology Protocols and Researches, Incorporated (ISMCBPR), President: Prof. Isidro T. Savillo presents "A Seminar - Lectures and Consultations with a Fulbright Senior Specialist (FSS) in Advanced Environmental Genetics/Science." These will include series of undergraduate and graduate lectures, special lectures for ISMCBPR members, consultations with the faculty and administrators of the Division of Biological Sciences, U.P. in the Visayas and Active Members of the ISMCBPR and with the faculty and administrators of other state and private colleges and universities in Region VI. Visitations in various academic and research institutions as well as to a group of physicians with active ISMCBPR members will be also be undertaken by the FSS in a special program entitled : A Day with the FSS.

August 30, 2006- FSS Scientific Lecture at the GCEB, UPV Campus, Iloilo City: Mutagenicity Testing: An Industrial Perspective
Sept.1, 2006- A Day with a Fulbright Senior Specialist at the West Visayas State University, La Paz, Iloilo City. Persons- In Charge: Prof. Jeannemar Genevive Yap- Figueras and Prof. Pastor Jones Denusta
Sept. 2- 3, 2006 Days with a Fulbright Senior Specialist at the UPV Infirmary, UPV- Miagao, Iloilo. Person In Charge- Dr. Marchette Savillo- Noble
Sept. 4, 2006 A Day with a Fulbright Senior Specialist at SEAFDEC (Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center), Tigbauan, Iloilo. Person-In- Charge- Fiona L. Pedroso- Biotechnology Laboratory, SEAFDEC.
Sept. 6, 2006 A Day with a Fulbright Senior Specialist at Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo City. Persons- in- Charge: Dr. Luisito T. Conducta and Prof. Egna A. Ballais
Other FSS Lectures will include: Genotoxicity of Arsenic, Chemopreventive effects of Selenium, Biochemicals (of medicinal importance) isolation from plant sources, Epidemiology of dengue, Aquaculture at KSU etc. as scheduled in particular institutions and universities.

Part II (December 2006) of the ISP 2006 of ISMCBPR was undertaken at the GCEB AVR at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas, Iloilo City on December 13, 2006.

ISP 2006 Part II Programme of ISMCBPR consists of the Welcome address by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, UPV and the Vice President of the ISMCBPR: Dr. Ebonia B. Seraspe and the Welcome Address of Prof. Isidro T. Savillo, President of ISMCBPR. The Plenary Lecture was rendered by Dr. Ronald R. Matias of the Medical Affairs Division, UNILAB and Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Research Division, St. Luke's Medical Center. He talked on the "Introduction to Philippine Dengue Viruses, Epidemiology, Dengue Virus Molecular Kit."
There was the Deliberation for the Molecule of the Year 2006 among the Five Prestigious Nominated Molecules and the Announcement for the Molecules of the Year 2006. The guidelines for voting for the Molecule of the Year was given by Dr. Minda J. Formacion and the Closing Remarks was rendered by Dr. Jane S. Geduspan. The Emcee and the Over- All Organizer for ISP 2006 part II was Prof. Ma. Severa Fe. S. Katalbas.
