Molecular Mechanisms of Resistance to Antibiotics, Drugs and Pesticides

  June 27, 2006

Churchill College, Churchill College, Cambridge, UK
16-18 April 2007

This meeting will focus upon the mechanisms by which pathogens and agricultural pests resist the action of drugs and chemical control agents. The conference aims to bring together scientists from academic and industrial backgrounds engaged in the study of resistance mechanisms; in the identification and diagnosis of resistant organisms, in monitoring and managing the dissemination of resistance and in applying this knowledge to development of new pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals that overcome the problem of resistance. The meeting will be organised jointly by the SCI Bioactive Sciences and Pest Management groups. Themes and Call for papers on the following areas: Biosynthetic pathways; Energy production; Transport across membranes and cell walls; Neurotransmission; The conference will link these core topics to developments in the areas of: Resistance to antiviral agents; Resistance in vector borne diseases; Molecular diagnosis and resistance monitoring Evolution of prokaryotic resistance mechanisms.
