The synapse is the functional unit of the nervous system. It is the place where neurons contact each other. The presynaptic nerve terminal releases neurotransmitters that activate or inhibit the postsynaptic cell. The French Society of Cell Biology is pleased to invite you to Synapse 2006 in the lively Latin Quarter of Paris for a scientific meeting on the cellular and molecular physiology of the synapse, with talks from experts in neuronal morphogenesis and synaptogenesis, exocytosis, endocytosis, and postsynaptic response and regulation.
