This event is an opportunity to introduce and present the work and research of the United Nations University's Programme for Biotechnology for Latin American and the Caribbean (UNU-BIOLAC), based in Caracas, Venezuela. UNU-BIOLAC does extensive capacity development, with the aim of promoting the use of biotechnology for development and integration in the region. Beyond this, our high-profile panelists will discuss the burden of infectious diseases in Latin America, the solutions available to tackle this problem, and the tools needed to empower local populations and scientists.
