Canadian Melanoma Conference: Research Frontiers

Purpose of Conference:

This fall, the Alberta Cancer Board in partnership with the University of Alberta, Department of Oncology will host the first Canadian Melanoma Conference in Banff, Alberta at the renowned Banff Springs Hotel.

In addition to exploring subject areas such as novel therapeutics (including raf kinase inhibitors, antiangiogenesis agents), vaccines, immunology, immunotherapy and pathology, we are also looking to engage industry in discussions on developing products and programs. The specific objectives of the meeting are to:

· Identify new targets and targeted agents in the treatment of melanoma;
· Communicate state-of-the-art topics in melanoma such as, biology, pathogenesis, immunology and novel therapeutics;
· Identify key industry partners who would prioritize the development of products and programs in melanoma management in Canada;
· Develop a network of basic and clinical investigators in order to promote translational and clinical research across Canada; and,
· Assemble a group of melanoma opinion leaders in Canada in order to develop a short and long term research strategy.
