  School of Biological Sciences, University of Bristol, Bristol UK
15th - 17th October 2003

Content: An innovative 3-day practical course for researchers, including seminars, practical demonstrations, hands-on laboratory workshops and problem-solving sessions, demonstrating developments in cell imaging techniques

Aims: To teach scientists how to choose the appropriate cell imaging techniques to further their own research, and how to evaluate the use of novel imaging techniques

Topics covered
* Multi-wavelength confocal imaging and FRET
* Live cell fluorescence imaging
* Use of fluorescent proteins to study cell signalling and protein trafficking
* 3D Imaging reconstruction, visualisation, quantification, deconvolution and publication
* Intracellular calcium imaging
* Immunofluorescent labelling
* Luminescence imaging (photon-counting)
* Microinjection
* Total internal reflectance
* AFM of cells and related biological systems
