Genetics

  EMBO/EMBL Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany
14/11/2003

"Genetics, Determinism and Human Freedom" continues this now well established multidisciplinary event, which annually brings together over 200 scientists, social scientists, philosophers, science communicators, policy makers, consumer associations and members of the public in engaging debate. Previous titles include "Infectious Diseases; challenges threats and responsibilities" and "From Genomes to Cures".

This year, in four sessions, the role of genetic information in disease, behaviour and the information society will be discussed with reference to its social impact.

The tradition of this conference is to promote mutual interest, understanding, and dialogue between biologists and a variety of other sectors of society that are concerned with the impact of modern biology. The conference is organised for the public, and there is no registration fee.
